What happens once I’ve signed the lease agreement?

signing up for a rental property can be confusing as there is a lot of paperwork and regulations. Read about what happens after your lease is signed.

The lease agreement is an important legally binding document and it contains all the terms and conditions of the tenancy.  It’s essential that tenants understand their rights and responsibilities, so the lease agreement should be clearly understood and a copy retained by the tenant.

Once you’ve signed the lease and the agency has received a copy of this, you will need to pay your bond and two weeks rent in advance.

You will then be invited into the office to go through all the lease paperwork including your rights and responsibilities, emergency procedures etc, the agent will provide you with your keys and a copy of your Entry Condition Report, which you will need to check and return within 3 days of signing your lease.
